The secret is out! We won “Het Spaanse Dorp Zarra” (The Spanish Village Zarra). The village has chosen us as honorary citizens. Can you imagine? We "just" signed up, to see where the journey would take us. And now we have an amazing house in Spain. It's high time for an update on how we're doing and, even more importantly, how our brewery is doing. For those who saw the last episode, you'll have seen us with council member Raul looking at an old farmhouse. A possible location for our brewery. We decided not to go with this location. Simply because it's outside the village limits, high on a mountain, and zoned as a farm. We are sure that the province of Valencia will not grant a permit for this. But there are more empty buildings within the village. We are therefore optimistic about finding a suitable property. Until then, Bastiaan can brew the beers in Valencia. We became friends with another brewer and he is opening his kettles for us.
After filming, it was time for a short break
The past period has really been a rollercoaster. After filming the finale, which was in early July, we went to Marbella. Here we signed the deed of sale. We can say with certainty that we were ready for a week's holiday. Full of good and positive energy, we returned to Zarra to move into our new home. Ready to set up the brewery. During the show, we had 8,000 liters of our Weizen con Naranja brewed. A huge gamble, but the past period has taught us that nothing ventured, nothing gained. We made a pitch and took it to Multibier with the hope that they would want to include our Weizen in their assortment. It turned out to be a success. The Weizen was included in various businesses throughout the Netherlands. You can find us in the assortment of Mitra, Gall&Gall and even some Jumbo supermarkets, but don't forget the independent liquor stores. Parties in Spain
Besides the work going on in the Netherlands, we haven't been idle in Spain either. We have done several festivals in the past period. Fun, because this is the first time that the Spanish people tried our beers. The reactions were positive. We notice that the population is very curious about the flavors. In the series, it was shown that we had difficulty with the permits. Thanks to the help of our gestor, we have obtained all permits to buy, sell, import, and export. And now we continue to develop. We have released the Abeja, a honey ale. For the holidays, our cherry beer will return. It was sold out immediately after the finale, crazy!
Home sweet home
And then there's the house, Casa el Premio! We noticed that there was a lot of curiosity about the kitchen. We can reassure everyone that there are two kitchens downstairs on the ground floor. Here we can "just" cook. We have now repaired the doors on the top floor; they are back in their original place. The electricity on the ground floor has been tidied up and improved thanks to Raymond. And we have tiled the floors so that, yes, a kitchen can be installed where it was intended. We have a lot of work to do on the house, but, poco a poco.
