Like every day, week, and month, time flies by. It feels like two days are squeezed into one. But that's okay, because it's all fun and we're full of new energy. Okay, for those who follow us on social media, you might have read that we were in a bit of a slump. We quickly received negative reactions such as "Typical of that generation, quitters", "Not real winners" and "That will never amount to anything". It's bizarre to know that this is "just" part of it. A year ago, it was only around this time that we heard we would be participating in a reality show, not knowing how the journey would begin, let alone how it would end. Fortunately, positive messages on our social media pages predominated. Family and friends visited, and this has filled us with new energy again.
We have converted the brewery into an SL. This is the Spanish version of a limited company (BV). With this new legal form, we can truly make strides, not just meters but kilometers. Before, we were a sole proprietorship. And as you understand, a sole proprietorship is just one. Spain is big, and our ambitions are much bigger. As an SL, we can collaborate with investors. Investors who, like us, believe in our passion. Who, like us, want to conquer the craft beer market in Spain with extraordinary beers.
This wasn't the only exciting thing we did last month. We also held our first tasting in Spanish. For a sold-out restaurant, we had (mainly) Spaniards taste our beers. Of course, this caused some tension and accompanying awkward moments, but we were so proud.
The renovation of Casa el Premio has been on hold for some time. The size of the house had become a bit overwhelming for us. This, despite the fact that we had always wanted a fixer-upper. And now we have one, and we're getting scared of it. That's not like us. We've gathered the right people around us and have gone through the house with this knowledge. Finally, we have the knowledge and ideas we longed for, so now we're going for it. We want to have the front of the house finished before May 1st.
But there was more to experience in the normally quiet village. Well, is that actually true? There have been many festivals and parties. For example, we went to our first rock festival in Ayora. That was so much fun! Although we still have to get used to the times. Spaniards party until deep into the morning. We are really not (anymore) used to that.
And even more exciting news. We organized our first Tour de Zarra together with Jaap and Jochem. It was a great success. We had a nice group and we walked through the village with them, talked about the series, and of course, drank a beer on the rooftop terrace. Then we finished in Jaap and Jochem's garden. As soon as the renovation of El Premio is finished, we want to organize more tastings in the village. But also at our home.
As you can read, many exciting events are planned. In April, a very big collaboration is coming up. We can't say anything about it yet, but it's going to be fantastic, and we're certainly looking forward to it. Until then, we will continue brewing, giving tastings, and enjoying Spanish life.
